Salmon Fishing from shore
Lake Michigan, Milwaukee, WI

September 11th, 2010
2 p.m. until well into the night

Join us for some urban fishing along the beautiful city scape of Milwaukee WI. You may think I’m crazy when I say beautiful city scape, but if you have stood off the pier looking back at the city with the sun going down, you would have to agree with me. If feels like you have a secret shared with only a few, while thousands of people bustle about their day with out knowing the treasure that lies in the deep right off the pavement.

There are several places in the metro area that we like to fish. We had a great time fighting huge king salmon last year at this time. We learned to fish this area with the locals on the pier as well as watching a few videos. We did what we saw on the videos and before long we had our hooks into something that felt like a pickup truck going down the highway. We learned a lot and had a blast. This year we are inviting anyone who wants to join us to come along and see what happens. The fish move daily and there are a few spots to pick from. We have some great local contacts here and on our impromptu  outing this spring, changing locations made all the difference in what fish were caught. This meant jumping in the cars and driving a few miles up the shore line to another spot.

The plan is to see who all is interested in going on this fishing outing. If you are interested send me an email and I will put you on the list. I will have contacts pre fishing the local spots a few days before and there may be a chance that the best action is a few miles up the road so our location could in fact change. So at this point put it in your calendar. There is no fee for this event, but you must be a member of WI Women Fish.  We will meet at 1:00 p.m. ( at a place to be determined)  and plan on fishing well after dark. I am creating  an event for this trip on the WI Women Fish Facebook page and its a good place to talk about car pooling and give updated information about the fishing conditions.

I will also be putting in the links to the video to watch and writing up an information sheet on how the fish in this area. The exact fishing location and meeting place will not be posted on the web site but only emailed to those attending.  Everyone is invited and it is best to remain flexible.  As always safety is a big concern for us and we try to do everything right.

I encourage you to do some research on salmon fishing from shore and you will find lots of tips and tricks to try.  Stay tuned for more information. We fish in all types of weather so come prepared.

 Fish Camp
White Rock Resort
Chetek WI

Sept 24th, 25th and 26th, 2010

WI Women Fish will hold the 4th annual Fish Camp at White  Rock resort in Chetek WI.  Fish Camp is a three day fishing outing for Women where we hold an informal contest, provide informational clinics, have a group fire every night, a chili feed and an awards ceremony. There is a weigh in station, boats available and a very high return rate year after year. No on site camping is available this year and we are trying out a resort based Fish Camp. We have secured the entire resort and grounds for our use and no part of the resort is open to the public.  If you would like to attend but live in the area and do not need lodging you are welcome to attend at a reduced rate. This event is open to all women over 21 years of age. All person must be a member of WI Women Fish to attend.

The White Rock Resort is located on a chain of six lakes and has seven fully equipped cabins.  The resort is tucked in with some great pines and has an entire peninsula for  shore fishing opportunities as well as boat docking places. The cabins have a kitchen, bathroom, cable tv, wireless internet and a grill. The "light housekeeping" cottages are furnished and inventoried with bed linens, pillows, blankets, silverware, dishes, pots/pans,toaster, coffee maker and microwave. All personal items are your responsibility. (Personal items include, but are not limited to: toilet paper, napkins, and other paper goods, cleaning or hygiene products, food, etc.) More information is available on White Rock’s web site at www.chetekswhiterockresort.com.

The resort has several cabins with several bed configurations, a kitchen and a bathroom. I have pondered on the best way  to handle the situation to best meet the needs of everyone attending.  If you would like to get a group together I can put you all in one cabin. There is also one cabin with one double bed that is available. For those of you who do not know anyone and would like to attend we have cabins set aside for two different personality types. Pick the one that best meets your needs and I will get you in there. If you are coming with a friend please bunk with each other to help this work out.

This year every participant will be required to help out and a sign up sheet for duties will be part of the check in process. We are in need of team captains for several tasks so if you would like to volunteer to be a team captain let me know as soon as possible. We have lots of interest and limited space. As usual this event is sold out on a first come first serve basis.
